Regret that we are in receipt of a disturbing complaint email from an horse rider.
The woman asserts that she was horribly verbally abused by an “Ilford runner” on the horse ride between Havering Country Park and Hainault Forest on the morning of Sunday 14th.
If indeed this was someone from our club such behaviour will not be tolerated.
I am sure everyone knows who runs around Hainault Country Park and the Woodlands Trust land and beyond that we share the forest with other users including horse riders and not only should riders be treated with respect but from a safety point of view horses need a wide berth and not spooked by running fast up behind.
This incident could have a detrimental effect on our ability to hold races in the forest.

In addition we have done a lot of work in recent years to raise the profile of Ilford AC and create a positive image with the local community. Thoughtless actions like this put that in jeopardy.

So if it was anyone from our club, which we sincerely hope not, any repetition will result in expulsion from the club on the grounds of bringing IAC into disrepute.
