Dear Team Manager

Woodford Green are looking forward to welcoming you and your SAL team back to Ashton Playing Fields on Saturday 14th August.

The full address of APF is:

598 Chigwell Road, Woodford Bridge, Essex, IG8 8AA

The track is just under the M11. While there are number of options to get there, Chigwell Road (A113) is most easily accessed via Charlie Brown’s roundabout, the track entrance is in about a mile, on the left just after going under the motorway. If taking the tube, the track is just over half a mile walk East from Woodford station.

There is a large car park at the facility but it can get crowded. Let us know in advance if your team is bringing a coach, so we can allocate space in the car park and so we know for the height barrier at the front gate to be moved out of the way. The Ashton contact number is 02085590486.

We will provide electronic timing for the event (with results posted online) and where possible EDM to speed up the long throws competitions. Implements can be weighed in a small room that also forms part of the equipment shed. Please note that while there are 2 international standard hammer and discus cages, it is likely that hammer and discus will both be held in the lower field beyond the far end of the track given the timetable overlaps too closely between these and javelin.

Provisional teams need to be submitted on the portal by noon on Friday 13 August, these lists will be used for field cards and photo-finish lane allocations. With non-scorers on the portal not being allocated by events and in the first match the names not showing up at all in advance of match day, please email me your list of non-scorers including intended events so that races can be drawn up and numbers assigned.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you expect your club will encounter any difficulty in providing the minimum complement of officials set by the league or a team sufficient to cover your assigned field events. A reminder that each team needs to bring at least one timekeeper and track judge plus a field team led by a judge who is at least level 2. The allocations for field events at this match are due to be:

HT+PV WGEL

SP+DT NEB

LJ+TJ Thurrock

HJ+JT Ilford

Havering will be assigned by the field ref to ensure other events are sufficiently covered. While officials should be submitted in advance on the portal, EA still advises against physical sign-in, in the previous match we were unable to see the submissions as is supposed to happen, so please send these to me by Friday too.

The clubroom will be open for this fixture given reduced restrictions, though individuals may still prefer to wear a mask inside. Refreshments will be available for purchase for all from here, in addition to officials lunches being provided. Hopefully all the teething problems post the track re-development will no longer be an issue for this match, in particular the steeplechase water jump issues have been addressed and there are brand new landing covers for both pole vault and high jump.

Let me know if you have any questions ahead of the day, Joe Everitt (cc’d) will be the meeting manager for the fixture itself.
