More details below on the SAL (Southern Athletics League)
If anybody would like to do an Officials course then the course will be free.
Dear Team Manager,
Ray Gibbins has been working hard trying to sort out all the fixtures for the league. One or two clubs wanted adjustments to the original divisional structure. The final structure is given on the SAL website at secure.ice/?https://www.southernathletics.org.uk/structure.html
Nearly all the host clubs have been sorted, with just nine fixtures needing a host (four of the nine have a designated host but confirmation is needed}. The latest state of play can be found at secure.ice/?https://www.southernathletics.org.uk/fixtures.html. If you can host any of the remaining meetings, please let Ray know.
The league can apply for permits for all the fixtures once the software has been tested, so there is no need for individual hosts to apply. We will need to provide the names and URNs for each official when the results are submitted, so they can be scrutinised to ensure the accuracy of the results.
The SAL Management Committee will meet in April to determine whether adjustments are needed to the timetable, but it would seem unlikely at this stage since 5000m (and even 10000m) races are now allowed. We will also need to ensure there is sufficient time for any additional work that is needed to keep things covid-safe.
England Athletics are very keen to encourage clubs to recruit new officials. They have given the SAL £3000 (see the offer letter above) to support the education of up to two new officials per club (until the money runs out!). I have been in contact with England Athletics and persuaded them to put on additional courses. If you have officials-in-waiting who are ready to take a level 1 course, I would urge you to contact them immediately and try to get them on one of the courses that came on live today. I’m copying in part of the email I received today:
