Welcome to the latest update for clubs from the Club Support Team as we enter the first full week of eased lockdown restrictions for England.
COVID-19 Guidance from England Athletics – restricted return to activity
I’m sure many of you have spent a significant amount of time over the last week trying to interpret and understand how the latest government guidance on lockdown affects you and your friends and family, but also your clubs and club members. On Friday last week England Athletics released our latest statement and guidance for athletes, runners, coaches, leaders and facilities on a safe return to restricted activity. The detailed guidance and FAQ documents can be found here and will continue to be updated as and when additional information becomes available.
And the Winner is…
Congratulations to Kevin Oakes from BRAT who was the winner of the second England Athletics Big Club Quiz with an impressive score of 27 out of 30! The next quiz takes place on 2nd June and this week’s Virtual Club Night sees the return of our athlete Q&A’s with Hayley Carruthers. Webinars & Virtual Club Forum’s
This week sees the start of our Virtual Club Forums with a morning and evening forum available in each region over the next 2 weeks. Booking details are now live on Athletics Hub. Click here to go to the events page and type in virtual club forums to find your regional event.
As always, recordings of last week’s Club Support Webinars can be found by visiting the Athletics @Home pages. I also wanted to highlight the excellent webinar focussing on engaging young people in officiating, delivered by one of our young officials India Hollingworth, which is definitely worth watching and sharing. India delivered an inspiring presentation about how she has progressed from becoming an assistant official to starters assistant at the World Championships in London 2017. She talks passionately about how she was motivated and supported, what she gets from the role and her future ambitions. The session closes with a Q and A where India shares insight and tips on how to engage young people in to officiating.
Officials @Home and the Coaching section of the Athletics @Home site continue to add new content and webinars on a regular basis so be sure to keep an eye out on these pages, and get involved where you can.

Keep in Touch – changes to Club Support contacts
As we announced last week a number of our Club Support Team have now been placed on furlough, so please use the Club Support email for general queries clubsupport@englandathletics.org. A member of the team will come back to you or direct your query as appropriate, and where necessary arrange a convenient time to speak to you directly. If you would like to arrange a call with one of the team then simply just ask us.
Check out this video which has been kindly shared with us by Hedge End Running Club to showcase their virtual team challenge to mark VE Day…well done to everyone involved, and what a fantastic idea to virtually bring members together.
