“My memory of John is he was a good man, a gentleman. As an athlete I looked up to him and as a person I did the same. I see him as a person who has a kind word for everyone. I stopped my warm-down on the track the other week as I saw John at the side of the track. I stopped just to have a chat! That is because he was such a good person. He will be greatly missed.
