Sad news of the passing of Howard Williams, one of the great unsung heroes of the sport. He was not just a talented middle and\u00a0long distance runner in his day but an absolute legend of an official and administrator and race organiser. He was a stalwart of Ilford AC as Road and Cross Country Officer, General Secretary of Essex AA, a CAU officer, organiser of the Metropolitan League XC and seemingly ever-present in some capacity at Essex, Southern, CAU and National XC over four decades between the 60’s and 90’s. Many will have received their finish disc from Howard at the end of major xc races. A total inspiration and a totally modest man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
