SOUTHEND 10Km (incorporating the Essex Championship)
Sunday 5 October
The Southend 10km, which was also the Essex Championship, ran on an out back course from Southchurch Park to Shoeburyness which meant that the runners had to face a stiff headbreeze on the return to the finish. Ilford AC had a squad of 21 in action and despite the difficult conditions won four medals and four members set new personal bests times.
Tomas Krukauskas led the way for the team in 35th place in a new best time for the distance of 37mins 17 secs, with Dyfan Garmon also improving his personal best of 37 mins 38 secs in 38th spot. Next over the line was Sam Rahman with 38 mins 24 secs in 58th
Club stalwart Andy Catton took the silver medal in the M70 category finishing in 49 mins 37 secs and there were bronze county medals for Steve Philcox in the M55 group in 39 mins 12 secs, Terry Knightley with 42 mins 02 secs in the M65 age group and Bev Thomas in the F65 in 57 mins 22secs.
Jordan was the best of the Ilford ladies finishing 18th female on the day in 41 mins 59 secs in her first race over the distance. She was supported by Alison Sale with 52 mins and 21 secs as 109th lady finisher
There were also new personal bests for Richard Woolterton (40 mins 10secs) and Tarik Qirem (44 mins 54 secs)
Also in action were: Malcolm Muir (39.28) Dan Holeyman (40.05) Steve Chissell (43.13) Dennis Briggs (46.07) Dave Thomas (46.49) Alan Pearl (47.15) Tony Young (51.23) Launa Broadley (64.38) Julia Galea (66.11) Rob Sargent (67.31)

Cologne Half Marathon
Further afield Anna Crawley travelled to Germany to compete in the Cologne Half Marathon.
On a lovely flat course in a race which was, of course, very well organised Anna ran a new Personal best to finish in a time of 1 Hour 32 minutes 44 seconds.
