The Leigh-On-Sea 5k and 10k is an after dark event combined to coincide with Halloween, where participants are encouraged to wear headlights.
Over 650 runners set off from The Carpark at Leigh-On-Sea and spectators were treated to a carnival of lights and even some Halloween outfits as runners raced round two tree island country park. The 5k runners then headed back to finish in the station car park whilst the 10k runners continued, along Marine Parade and through Old Leigh town before heading back to the station car park.
In the 5k Sharon Honey placed 1st in her age grouping and 58th overall in a time of 33 minutes 21 seconds
In the 10k Billy Green placed 140th in 54 minutes 19 seconds and Rachel Halpin came home in 166th place in 56 minutes 08 seconds

CHINGFORD LEAGUE
Eastbrook End Country Park

SENIORS
The 2nd match of this winters Chingford League was held over a 3 lap course totaling around 8km on the trials of the Eastbrook End Country Park
Ilford AC fielded 14 runners in the event and leading home the men’s team in their division 1 event was Dyfan Garmon in 25th place in 31 mins 39 secs. He was supported by Dan Holeyman in 54th with 33 mins 45 seconds with Bradley Brown close behind in 56th and 33 mins 50 secs. Steve Chissell came home 63rd in 34 mins 28 secs with Steve Horsley recording 37mins 06 secs for 13rd.
The squad was completed by Andy Catton in 13th (40.30) Jim Tilbrook (149 41.05) and Ray Everingham (224 53.06)
In the division one race the Ilford team finished 6th and are currently 8th in the table
The Ilford ladies compete in division 2 and were led home by a good run from Natalie Crisp who finished 12th the ladies race in 40 mins 29 secs. She was well supported by Alison Sale in 15th with 41mins 29 secs and Pauline Tester 23rd in 42 mins 10 secs.
Next over the line for the team was Dianne Crisp in 48mins 36 secs for 43rd and Launa Broadley came home 45th in 51 mins 46 secs while Sheila Sinclair completed the team in 59mins 21 secs for 50th spot

The second round of Chingford League fixtures took place at Eastbrook End with 19 Junior athletes producing excellent on the day performances
Olivia Spink earned a remarkable victory over the 2km distance in the U11girls race winning in a time of 10.01m following Olivia home in 8th place was younger sister Rose Spink with a great time of 10.58m
Newcomer Flavia Busciglio running in only her third race produced a really good performance of 11.57m to finish in 16th position. Next Ilford athlete was Phoebe Rice who worked really hard in only her second race closing the team in 17th place recording 12.25m
U11 boys team were led home by ever improving Christopher Maidwell in 17th clocking 10.16m
Fast finishing Zachary Forsyth managed to hold off opponents in a sprint finish to confirm 30th spot in 11.28m. Hard working teammate Matthew Guiney produced another battling performance in 32nd place a great run after being unwell in the days leading up to the race.
Under 13 boys race saw ever reliable Danilo Reina produce another solid performance of 9.44m in 9th place. Teammate Hashim Khan was forced to retire due to breathing difficulties
U13girls all produced outstanding runs with D.L. Majen-Akande leading them home in 14th place in 10.53m. Jiya Gill in only her second race ran very well finishing in 15th place in 10.59m. Debutant Sian Berry completed the team with a solid run of 13.20m in 21st place
Barney Perkins produced a battling performance to close 3rd place in 17.37m keeping him in the reckoning for overall series awards
Newcomer Aryan Gohil continued his improvement in 11th place clocking 22.26m.
Teammate James Houghton suffered an unfortunate leg injury and was forced to pull out of his race
Iris Wan continued her good form in the U15 girls category completing the 4km distance recording 22.52m for a well earned 4th place
Alicia Adams also ran a great race closing in an excellent 7th place clocking 23.51 keeping up her recent good form .
Another outstanding performance from Under 17 athlete Fabio Reina saw him earn first place, his second in the series, winning in 16.16m
Fabio was ably supported by teammates Ryder Islam in 6th with a time of 18.39m and Robert Stanciu who produced a much improved performance of 20.30m closing the team in 11th place.
The team were well supported on the day by parents and Senior athletes. Thanks to our Coaches and spectators for all of their support in helping our athletes to perform so well
