CHINGFORD LEAGUE

The final individual event of this winter’s Chingford League took place on a course  of one small lap and 2 longer ones.

Ilford had a team of 22 runners taking part in the Senior event with the men racing in Division 1.
The men’s team were led home by three of our up and coming U20 runners, who were also the first 3 U20 runners in the event. Shamil Mohamad placed 5th in 26:01, Ronan Adwards 7th in 26:31 and Samuel Crane placed 13th in 27:02. Joshua Adler placed 14th in 27:07 and Tomas Krukauskas 43rd in 28:56. Completing the scoring team was Joel Denning in 32:53 for 143rd place.

Also competing for the men were: Neil Crisp 155th 33:49 (3rd Snr M60), Steve Chissell 161st 34:14, Bradley Brown 176th 35:13, Tarik Qirem 179th 35:21, Steve Lacey 225th 38:40, Andrew Catton 238th 39:22, Mike Perkins 250th 40:14, Sean Costello 265th 41:33, Ray ‘Sparra’ Everingham 290th 46:12

The men currently sit 8th in the league

Leading the ladies home was Anna Crawley placing 14th in 31:56. Next home was Dani Thomas placing 69th in 36:57 then Pauline Tester in 106th in 40:00, a time which also placed her 3rd F60 on the day. Alison Sale was 129th in 41:39 and Bev Thomas 154th in 43:21, completing the scoring team for the women was Dianne Crisp in 177th place for 45:34.
Frieda Keane came home in 48:38 for 196th place.

The ladies also sit in 8th place in Div 2

It was a great day for the following athletes, who all achieved 5 Mile personal bests on the day:-

Anna Crawley, Tomas Krukauskas, Joshua Adler, Danni Thomas and Samuel Crane

 

 

JUNIORS

 

First off were the U11/U13s age group athletes

Ilford’s Rose Spink  produced another fantastic run to take first place in an excellent time of 7.04m beating her close rivals and clinching the individual overall series winner in her first season.

Olivia was followed home by younger sister Rose with a great run of 8.01m finishing in 8th position and overall 9th in the individual series. Flavia Busciglio produced a typically determined run of 8.44m finishing in 11th position with teammate Phoebe Rice having a season’s best run in 13th place clocking 9.17m

The girls performances earned them overall Second place in the series team category. A brilliant achievement 

Lone U11B athlete Matthew Guiney completed his first season in Chingford league with another gritty run of 7.59m finishing in 27th   Place

U13G D.L. Majen-Akande and Jiya Gill continued both produced races that confirmed their ongoing improvement with times of 14.45m & 14.47m respectively. Their consistent performances over the series have  earned a great overall 3rd place for the team 

Danilo Reina continued his rapid improvement with a 6th place finish in a great time of 13.26m

Which earned him a well deserved 7th place in the individual overall series .

U15B race saw a fantastic effort from the team with emerging star Zakaria Choudhury producing a winning run of 16.09m over the 4.5km distance. Next home for Ilford was Barney Perkins in 4th place clocking 18.38m and earned 4th place in the overall standings 

James Houghton backed up his teammates with a really solid run of 19.55m successfully continuing his recovery ftom recent injury.

Ever reliable and improving Elias Furreedan closed in 7th position clocking a fine time of 20.43m which confirmed his position of 10th in individual series.

Teammates Caleb Singleton. Aryan Gohil and Daniel Guiba  all had great races finishing in 10th, 12th, and 13th places recording times of 22.36m , 24.22m and 24.17m 

These team performances secured a super FIRST place in the team series. A great team effort 

U15 girls continued their great season with super races which earned them overall SECOND place in the team series 

Alicia Adams led the team home with another season’s best run of 23.15m in 5th place . Iris Wan continued her race on race improvement in 8th place in 23.43m. Hawaa Patel continued her recovery from recent injury with a strong sprint finish overtaking two rival athletes and clinched 9th place clocking 24.14m

The U17 Boys race saw dominant Ilford athlete Fabio Reina seal not only a victory in the race but also a dominant individual series title to cap a brilliant season for him.

Fabio was followed home in 2nd place by ever consistent teammate Ryder Islam in a time of 

17.38m which earned him 5th place in the overall series

Robert Stanciu placed 5th in a season’s best run of 21.29m followed by Ethan Guiba in 8th and  has consistently earned valuable points for the team this season.

These team performances have earned the team Second place in the overall team series

 

With just the relay championships to come Ilford’s young team has produced some fantastic results in this series FIRST PLACES for Fabio Reina and Olivia Spink
