BARKING PARK 5km

SENIORS

The penultimate round of this year’s Elvis competition was held over the unusual twisty but fast course in Barking Park.

Leading the team home was Sam Rahman in 6th place, and 3rd VM40 in 17:13, not far behind in  17:27 was Berekhet Berakhy for 9th place and 1st in the VM50 category, as well as a PB. Samuel Crane was 12th in 17:39 and Dyfan Garmon 15th in a personal best time of 17:43. Completing the scoring team were Danny Holeyman 29th in 19:15 and Dave Thomas in 44th in 20:07 to claim 2nd place in the VM60 grouping.
Just one second outside the scoring places, running a personal best was Steve Chissell in 45th place in 20:08.

The men placed 3rd on the day, and finished the season in 3rd place in Division 1

Leading the ladies home with a great run of 19:23 for 2nd place was Jordan Hinds. Anna Crawley followed in 6th place in a time of 20:11. Breege Nordin was the 1st FV60 on the day, coming home in 22nd place in a time of 23:09. Dani Thomas was 29th in 24:03, closely followed just 3 seconds and one place later by Alison Sale to claim 2nd in the FV60 age grouping. Completing the team was Pauline Tester in 25:17 for 46th place.

The ladies placed 4th on the day and finished the season in 5th place in Division 1.

Wrapping up the Elvis season, the following age grouping categories were awarded:- 

Steve Philcox 1st VM50, Danny Holeyman 3rd VM50, Dave Thomas 1st VM60, Steve Chissell 2nd VM60.

Dani Thomas 3rd VF40, Alison Sale 3rd VF50 * (*Changed age category for the latter races)

JUNIORS

A team of 13 Ilford AC athletes all aged under 15 took part in the Barking Park 2km race on Bank holiday Monday.

9 of the athletes were making their debuts for the Club over the 2km distance with Aryan Gohil finishing in first place clocking 8m 15s just holding off fast finishing teammate Christopher Maidwell by 1second.

First girl runner home was the ever improving Iris Wan who finished 4th overall with a time of 8m 50s 

D.L. Majen Akande put in a great performance to finish as 2nd girl in overall 5th place clocking 9m 3s 

D.L. was followed home by teammate Alicia Adams in a time of 9m 24s to secure 7th overall and 3rd girl .

Young debutant Matthew Guiney continued to show great form finishing overall 6th and 4th boy in a very good time of 9m 15s to confirm his status as a very promising future star.

Another debutant who has been steadily improving is Jiya Gill who supported her fellow teammates with a solid run  of 9m 26s finishing as 4th girl in overall 8th place. Brandon Lambert ran a tactically astute race finishing in a time of 10m 8s securing 10th position overall 

Young Oliver Maidwell produced a great performance on his Ilford AC 

debut finishing in 11th overall with an impressive time of 10m 27s and 5th boy finisher.

Twin sisters Flavia and Elise Busciglio both produced determined performances to finish in 12th and 17th places in times of 11m 14s and 13m 56s respectively 

Sian Enim-Barry had an encouraging debut over the 2km distance with 13th overall in a very respectable time of 11m 25s finishing as 6 th girl

Guest Ilford runner Mandela Majen

and youngest competitor also ran a determined race finishing in 14th place with a time of 11m 43s .

All of the runners performed really well in the very warm conditions and the race was a great indicator to their form with the upcoming Road and Cross Country season.
