BRITISH MASTERS 5Km CHAMPIONSHIP

The British Masters 5km Championship was held on a fine if chilly morning in Battersea Park over a flat fast 2 lap course. The event was split into 2 races, first for men under 65 and then for all the female runner’s plus the older men. Ilford had 7 runners among the over 500 entrants.

Fastest on the day for the club was Fabrizio Stefanoni who had a strong run to be ranked 88th overall and 19th in the M50 category in a time of 17mins 32 secs.
Leading the way for Ilford Ladies was Anna Crawley in a new personal best time of 19 mins 37 secs for 30th female and 10th in the F35 grouping.

Pauline Tester finished 12th in the F60 category in 24mins 42 secs, with Beverley Thomas 14th in the F65 group with 26 mins 07 secs and Launa Broadley with 29 mins 12 secs for 12th in the F55 category. These three ladies combined to win the silver team medal in the F55 team competition.

The team also had two runners in the older men’s race with Dave Thomas recording 20mins 27 secs for 1th in M65 grouping and Rob Sargent was 21st in the M70 category in 32 min 19 secs.
