Essex County Relays
Colchester
It was a successful day for the club at the Essex County Relays on Saturday.
With 5 teams entered, the club picked up Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and two 4th places.
Gold medal went to the V60 ladies A team, consisting of Pauline Tester, Alison Sale and Bev Thomas.
The Silver medal went to the V60 men’s A team, consisting of Neil Crisp, Stephen Philcox and Terry Knightley.
Completing the medal haul for the weekend was the Ladies V60 B team, gaining a Bronze medal for Frieda Keane, Sharon Honey and Diane Crisp.
Narrowly missing out on medals, both finishing in 4th place were the Men’s Senior team, Samuel Crane, Josh Adler, Ronan Edwards and Shamil Mohamad, and the V60 Men’s B team, Steve Chissell, Alan Pearl and Dave Thomas.
Brentwood Half
The 44th Brentwood Half Marathon was held in good conditions over a gently undulating course through the Essex Countryside starting and finishing at Becket Keys School in the town centre.
Ilford AC had 8 runners in the field of over 1800 starters.
Leading the pack was Chris King in 24th place, in a time of 1:19:30.
Chris was backed up by Malcolm MuirĀ 1:24:36, Ryder Islam 1:25:59, Danielle Thomas 1:42:08, Steven Horsley 1:44:24, Bradley Brown 1:46:32, Danny Wheeler 1:48:09 and Stephen Lacey 1:50:15
Madrid Half Marathon
Further afield three of our veteran ladies travelled overseas to take part in the Madrid Half Marathon, in Sunny conditions the ladies enjoyed the popular event which takes runners on a scenic route through the centre of the city.
Leading the way was Launa Broadley in 2 hours 25 mins 57 seconds, followed by Julia Galea in 2 hours 40 mins and Sheila Sinclair in 2 hours 44 minutes 34 seconds.
