Olympic Velopark

SENIORS

The latest fixture in this winter’s Chingford League was over 5km at the Olympic Velopark in Stratford for the second time this season. In the fast 3 lap event Ilford AC men racing in the first division were led home by Bradley Brown in 11st position in 21 mins 15 seconds who moved up the field on his third lap . Steve Chissell came in next 12th with 21 mins 42 seconds with Andy Catton 131st in 25 mins 15 secs. The squad was completed by Zaid Furbeedan (139th ) and Sparra Everingham (146th)

The Ilford ladies race in division 2 and Alison Sale headed the team in 29th spot in 24mins 28 secs with Pauline Tester finishing in 25 mins 47 secs for 41st. Frieda Keane came in 48th with Launa Broadley one place behind her.

In the team competition Ilford had incomplete teams which resulted in the men finishing 9th in their Division 1 match and are 8th in the league and the ladies were also 9th in their second division match and are 10th in the league.

JUNIORS

4th race of the Chingford league series held at Stratford Velopark saw a team of 20 Junior athletes competing for Ilford AC

Olivia Spink got the Ilford team off to a great start in the U11s race with a storming run of 8.41m to claim second place, just ONE second behind the winner.

Younger sister Rose Spink produced another great performance with an impressive 9.57m for 12th place

U11boys were led home by ever improving Stanley McDonald closing 15th spot in 8.56m

Youngest member of the boys team Matthew Guiney produced another fine run in 9.43m finishing 35th and he was ably supported by teammate Noah Skipp in 41st place recording a good time of 10.38m

Ilford’s U13 team saw another great run from Hashim Khan in 8th place 8.25m with fast finishing teammate Danilo Reina just 2 seconds behind in 10th place clocking 8.27m. Jiya Gil ran another solid race as our only U13 girl finishing in 18th position with a good time of 9.49m

Ever improving under 15 girls team were led home by Iris Wan clocking 24.21 for 5th position chased all the way by teammates Alicia Adams in 9th position 25.13m and Hawaa Patel who produced a determined run following a lengthy injury absence to finish in 11th place in 25.58m

U15 boys team were led home for the first time by Elias Furreedan with a determined run of 20.27m and an excellent 7th position 

Next home , returning from a recent injury was James Houghton in 9th place recording 20.44m

Stephen Amoli continued his recent good form with a time of 22.25m in 13th place. Caleb Singleton ran another solid race finishing in 14th with a time of 23.02m . Teammate Aryan Gohil and youngest runner Daniel Guiba both had good determined runs of 24.03m and 25.16m respectively finishing in 15th and 16th places.

U17 star Fabio Reina had a closely contested race before finishing in second place ONE second behind the eventual winner recording a time of 16.53m for the 5km distance. Robert Stanciu maintained his good form finishing in 8th place with a time of 20.28m and the team was closed by Ethan Guiba in 11th position with a time of 23.38m

Friday Nights Under the lights 5m
Battersea Park

Always a popular event with club runners is the Friday nights under the lights 5m event held over a fast, 2 lap course, monthly at Battersea Park.
The Christmas event last weekend attracted over 200 runners, including two from Ilford AC.

Leading the pair home was Samuel Crane who finished 7th in his age grouping with a time of 28 minutes 27 seconds. Anna Crawley followed, placing 2nd in her age grouping with a time of 32 minutes 13 seconds
