EUROPEAN MASTERS Funchal, Madeira
DOUBLE GOLD FOR KRYSTLE
Krystle Balogun ran an excellent 26:35 to finish 7th in the W35 200m final in Madeira.
Later in the competition she won double gold with the W35 4 x 100m and the mixed V35 4 x 400m GB teams.
5,000M Track
Andrew Catton ran an impressive 23:59.43 for 11th place in the final of the 5,000m track event on the 6th day of the tournament
10Km ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIP
The 10km road race at the European Masters Athletics Championship in Funchal, Madeira was a night race with an 8pm start time. It is a humid evening over a challenging course over 2 5km laps featuring a 1km climb and some cobbled streets. Ilford AC had two athletes in the event, both in the M70 category. Andy Catton was placed 215th overall and 15th in the age group in 51 mins 20 secs, while Rob Sargent found the conditions tough going coming home in 74 mins 16 secs for 256th in the race and 31st in the age group. Neither athlete scored for the Great Britain team


Battersea Park Half MarathonThree Ilford runners took on the challenge of the Battersea Park Half Marathon at the weekend.Leading the trio home was Sam Rahman finishing in a time of 1:18:31 for an impressive 27th place overall.
Next home was Daniel Holeyman in a time of 1:25:27 for 89th place and 3rd in his age grouping. Completing the trio with a PB time of 1:25:56 for 95th place and 4th in his age grouping.

George Richardson Vets Inter-club XC Champs
The annual match for runners over 40 took place at Loughton on the Roding Valley Country Park on Saturday. Unusually for the event the grass underfoot was very dry and the weather mild
Ilford had a squad of four in action on the day, all performing well on the day.
First home for the team, over the 5.1m distance was Jim Tilbrook in 50th place in a time of 43:40, followed closely by Alison Sale in 44:03 for 53rd. Ray ‘Sparra’ Everingham came home in 71st place in 52:56, followed just one place later by Frieda Keane in a time of 54:31

Cabbage Patch 10 (Miles)
The Cabbage Patch 10 is one of the flattest, most scenic, ten mile races in the country and almost as old as The London Marathon being founded in 1982 by the landlords of the famous Cabbage Patch pub in Twickenham.
Starting in King Street, Twickenham, the route crosses the Thames at Kingston Bridge and Richmond Bridge, runs along the Riverside to finish on the drive in front of the York House Civic Building in Twickenham. Previous winners include Mo Farah.
This year’s race included two Ilford athletes, Malcolm Muir and Anna Crawley.
Malcolm crossed the line in 1 hr 3mins 33 sec, whilst Anna ran a PB for the distance, coming home in 1 hr 9 mins 25 secs
