Essex Cross Country League
Hainault Forest
Saturday 8th November
Ilford AC hosted the 2nd Essex League X Country fixture at Hainault Forest last weekend.
22 youngsters and 25 youngsters took on the usual challenging course, with 15 other members giving up their time to marshal on the day
Under 11s ran a 1.5km course in mild conditions and the girls team were led home by talented runner Olivia Spink in a great time of 5.52m securing a brilliant 6th place. Newcomer Flavia Busciglio continued her improvement with a determined run of 6.56m for 27th place
U11boys were led home by debutant Stanley MacDonald in 19th place with an impressive run of 6.07m . Teammate Noah Skipp, also making an impressive debut finished in 25th place clocking 6.21m . Ever improving Zachary Forsyth produced another fast finish recording 6.42m to gain 30th position just holding off teammate and youngest runner Matthew Guiney who clocked 6.45m in 32nd place.
U13 boys Danilo Reina and Hashim Khan both ran impressively over their 3.3km distance finishing in 34th and 51st places respectively recording times of 12.52m and 14.37m in what proved to be a high quality fast race
U13 girls were once again led home by the ever reliable D.L. Majen-Akande recording 14.19m in 20th place for another fine run. D.L. was ably backed up by newcomer and improving teammate Jiya Gill who clocked 16.02m in 26th place.
U15boys tackled the tougher 4km course with Barney Perkins continuing his good form in 19th place with a time of 14.52m.
Elias Furreedan was next home in 45th place with an excellent run of 17.25m Stephen Amoli was next to finish and despite restricted training he managed a time of 17.54m for 48th place. Newcomer Aryan Gohil finished next in 49th place after a determined run of 18.13m. Closing the team in 52nd place was hard working Daniel Guiba with a good time of 19.13m
U15 teammates Alicia Adams and Iris Wan battled it out over the hard course with Alicia managing to pull away from Iris in the final stages . Both girls had strong races finishing 34th and 45th in times of 19.56m and 20.08m respectively
U17 star Fabio Reina continued his recent great form leading the team home in 9th place recording 19.41m for the 6km distance
Ryder Islam followed Fabio home in 15th place with an excellent run of 21.00m. Luke Thake was next Ilford’s runner home clocking a battling 23.19m for a great 24th place. Robert Stanciu kept up his recent improvement with 26th place in a time of 24.59m
Ethan Guiba completed the team in 27th place with a determined run of 29.25m in 27th position

The Senior women raced a 6km course and were led home by the inform Jordan Hinds in 16th place in 23:30. Anna Crawley was next home in 26th place in 24:31 followed by Natalie Crisp in 68th, Alison Sale 72nd in 27:55 and Pauline Tester in 104th place in 30:12. The team of six were completed by Dianne Crisp in 117th place in a time of 32:07.
The ladies finished 7th on the day.
The Senior men raced 8k and were led home by Samuel Crane in 28:26 for 41st place and Ronan Edwards in 29:06 for 48th place. Malcolm Muir was next home in 30:32 for 73rd followed closely by Stephen Philcox in 82nd place in 31:17 and Dyfon Garmon who came home in 84th place in 31:31. The team of 6 was completed by Danny Holeyman who placed 121st in a time of33:34

MEMORIAL 10km
Town Moor Newcastle
Sunday 9 November
The Memorial 10km has been staged on Remembrance Sunday by Heaton Harriers since 1920. The race starts at 11 o’clock with two minutes silence then the runners set off on a two alp course on the tarmac and gravel paths around the Moor. The course is flat and fast and this year the race incorporated the British Masters 10km Championship and the conditions were cloudy but with light winds.
Two members of Ilford AC travelled North to compete and Tony Young was the first of them to cross the line in 356th position in a time of 52 mins 21 secs which placed him 13th in the M60 category. Rob Sargent came home in 63mins 57 secs for 437th overall and 11th in the M70 age group
STEBBING 10 Miles
Sunday 9 November
The annual Stebbing Remembrance Day 10 mile road race, now in its 23rd year was staged over the usual gently undulating scenic route. Leading the way for Ilford AC was Alan Pearl in 138th place in 81 mins 01 secs, closely followed by Dani Thomas, who is showing a good improvement since joining the club, in 145th overall, 27th female and 9th in the F40 category in 81 mins 27 secs. Completing the Ilford trio in the event was Julia Galea with I hr 52 mins 12 secs to claim second in the F70 age group.
