Half Marathons
Five Ilford AC athletes took on the Half Marathon challenge last weekend
The Paddock Wood Half Marathon is a fast, flat and accurate course on roads through the hop gardens and orchards of Kent.
Now in its 34th year, three Ilford athletes took part in this years event.
Richard Morris came home in 1hr 19mins 47secs, Joel Denning 1hr 31mins 52secs and Anna Crawley 1hr 32mins 48secs.
The Cambridge Half Marathon attracts over 15,000 runners, and takes runners through Cambridge’s historic streets and the world-famous University grounds. This year, in the 15th running of the event, two Ilford AC runners took on the challenge,
Tomas Krukauskas ran a PB to finish in 1hr 18mins 42 secs, as he prepares for this year’s London Marathon. Steve Lacey was pleased with his time of 1hr 48mins 34secs

Chingford league cross country relays
The final cross country fixture in the Chingford League was held at Wanstead flats at the weekend, a relay event consisting of 4 legs of 3000m.
Ilford AC had a very big turnout on the day fielding a Senior men’s and women’s teams, 4 vets, 3 U17 male, 1 U17 female, an u13boys and an u13 girls teams – A total of 48 runners in Ilford colours.
Highlights of the day were the Senior men’s team which finished 2nd overall, with Shami Mohammad, James Thake, Ronan Edwards and Samuel Crane achieving an overall time of 44:57
JUNIOR REPORT
22 Ilgord AC Junior athletes had a really successful day at the Chingford League relay championships held at Wanstead flats which marked the conclusion of the Chingford league series
First up were the boys and girls U11/13 teams
Flavia Busciglio completed the first leg with a determined run of 11.17m for the 2km distance , handing over to teammate Phoebe Rice in 7th place. Ever improving Phoebe produced another improved run holding onto 7th with
11.12m before passing on to 3rd runner Jiya Gill who gave her all producing a solid run of 10.40m to maintain 7th place for experienced teammate D.L. Majen-Akande who ran the fastest leg of of 10.20m to hold on to that position
Stanley MacDonald kicked off the U11/13Boys with a solid run of 9.43m handing over to youngest member Matthew Guiney in 12th position. Matthew continued his successful debut season with a run of 10.22m holding on to 11th place. Next runner up was ever reliable Danilo Reina who had another excellent run of 9.02m before handing over to relay debutant Luke Adams who produced the fastest team leg of 8.41m to hold on to 11th place
U15/17Girls team who have had a fantastic series of races secured the deserved Silver medal over their 3.2km race
Alicia Adams kicked off with a brilliant run of 16.12m handing over first place to Iris Wan, a determined of 17.03m leg from Iris saw her pass on to teammate Hawaa Patel, who despite observing Ramadan ran an exhausting leg of 17.15m before handing over to youngest membeff if of the team Olivia Spink who dominated the course and produced the second fastest time of the entire age group competition clocking an amazing 14.52m earning the team a fantastic Silver medal.
U15/17 Boys teams were next up with the teams producing some great individual and team results
Team A were led off by Barney Perkins who held first place with a great time of 13.26m handing over to experienced runner Ryder Islam who maintained the lead by recording a solid run of 12.33m
Ryder handed over to newest team member Zakaria Choudhury who increased the team’s lead with sn outstanding leg of 11.21m the fastest leg in the age group competition . Fabio Reina ran the “ Glory leg” and didn’t let his team down by producing a brilliant time of 11.46m , showing the ability that earned him the individual series winner title and clinched the team relay Gold
U15/17Boys B team finished in 4th place after some great performances.
Caleb Singleton set off first with a solid run recording 15.22m before handing on to teammate Robert Stanciu who ran another improved race holding on to fourth place with 14.46m . Ever consistent runner Elias Furreedan was next up and despite also observing Ramadan he produced another gritty run of 14.17m before handing over to experienced teammate Luke Thake in fourth place. Luke typically ran a really strong last leg producing the fastest time of 14.12m and holding on to 4th frustratingly missing out on the medals.
Brothers Ethan and Daniel Guiba were the only 2 runners in the C team due to late withdrawals
Younger brother earned family bragging rights by running his leg in 16.52m just six seconds faster than older brother Ethan who ran 16.58m.
Olivia Spink and Fabio Reina were presented with their individual series awards and the U15boys received their series team award
