HAVERING 5 (ELvIS)

The second round of the ELvIS summer league was held over a two lap course around Raphael Park in Romford. The course of 5 miles was a fast one and the runners recorded good times. Ilford AC had 36 entrants in the field of just under 300.
The mens team were led home by Josh Adler in an excellent 5th place in a time of 28 mins 42 secs. The club then had 4 runners in the teens: Steve Philcox 13th in 29 mins 19 secs, Malcolm Muir 15th and Tomas Krukauskas both credited with the same time 30 mins 09 secs and Donogh Hurley 18th in 30 mins 31 secs.. Sam Rahman rounded out the scorers in 20th spot with a time of 30 mins 48 secs. In the match they were placed 2nd and are joint 2nd in the league with Eton Manor with East London topping the table after 2 matches.
Gemma Ellender was the best of the Ilford Ladies finishing 8th in their event with 37 mins 31 secs. Next over the line were two runners in their first appearance for the club this year; Bree Nordin in 12th, which won her the trophy for 1st in F60 category, with 38 mins 40 secs and Carlie Qirem placing 14th in 39 mins 11 secs. One place behind was Natalie Crisp recording the same time. Alison Sale in 19th in 40 mins 18 secs and Jenni Sheehan 24th with 40 mins 51 secs were the other scorers for the Ilford team who were 3rd in this match and are 3rd in the current rankings.
Dave Thomas was Ilford’s other trophy winner as he took the 1st in the M65 age group in 32 mins 14 secs for 37th place

High Easter 10k
Ilford AC sent a team of three runners to High Easter in Chelmsford at the weekend to compete in this popular 10k race,
The race is a one lap, fast and flat course, through the High Easter village.
Youngster Fabio Reina led the team home in 18th place in a time of 36 mins 52 secs. He was followed home by Joel Denning in 39 minutes 57 secs and Mandy Reid in 57 minutes 01 secs.
Orion Forest 5
The Forest 5 is a series of 3 races in Epping Forest, held on the first Saturday in June, July and August, the 3rd of which incorporates the ‘Elvis’ race hosted by Orion Harriers.
The race was held on a warm sunny Saturday morning over a 1 lap 5-mile course which was dry and featured a few climbs.
Ilford AC had 4 runners representing the club.
1st home for the club, and also the first M60 overall was Dave Thomes who finished in 19th place in a time of 34 minutes 11 seconds.. Next home for the club was Jim Tilbrook in 77th place in 42 minutes. Alison Sale came home in 43 mins 20 seconds, with Frieda Keane completing the team in 54 mins 48 secs
