Ilford AC had 3 athletes running in the Witham 5 mile race on Boxing Day amongst a large field of nearly 500 runners. Malcolm Muir placed 8th overall in 26minutes 42 seconds while his sister, Carol, sliced over 2 minutes off her previous best recording 46.25. Abdi Berleen completed the trio with 31.07. Adrian Mussett of Colchester Harriers was the overall winner in 24.49 from Billericay's Crispian Bloomfield in 25.05, while Harriett Scott of Havering Mayesbrook took the women's race in 28.36 from Claire Elms of Dulwich with Teresa Ward of Basildon back in third. The club now look forward to the next round of the Essex Cross Country League at Chingford next Saturday.
