Ilford
Ac's
Karen
Sindall
continued
her
build up
to the
ITU
Salford
world
cup with
an
impressive
win in
Saturday's
Human
Race
Timex
women's
only
triathlon
held at
Dorney
Lake
near
Eton
Wick,
Berkshire.
Sindall
led a
large
field of
over 150
competitors
from
start to
finish
in the
main
challenge
event as
she
powered
to the
finish
line in
1hr 34
minutes
and 20
secs. Sindall
made her
intentions
clear
with the
fastest
swim of
the day
and
although
her
nearest
rival,
Heather
Williams
of
Cambridge
Tri
club,
did
manage to
close
the gap
slightly
on the
bike
section,
the
Ilford
triathlete's class
in the
run was
there
for all
to see
as she
took a
full 3
minutes out
of her
main
challenger.
Karen
now
seems to
have put
the
injuries
of the
last
couple
of years
firmly
behind
her as
she
continues
her
preparations
for next
month's
prestigious
Salford
race and
is
approaching somewhere
near her
best
form.
North
Downs
Run
(30k) and

4
athletes
from
Ilford
AC
competed
in the
North
Downs
Run on
Sunday.
Peter
Spelman
led the
club
home on
this tough
and
challenging
course
across
the
North
Downs
and
through the
villages
of Kent
countryside.
Spelman
who has
been
improving
with
every
run this
year
sliced 7
minutes
from
last
years
time to
finish
the 30k
course
in an
excellent
time of
2hrs 40
minutes.
Peter
now
looks
forward
to his
impending
Swiss
Mountain
marathon
in Davos
with
some
confidence. Keith
Ennis
was next
home
finishing
in 2hrs
50 mins.
Sally
Gillam
also
preparing
for a
marathon
later in
the year
used the
run as a
strength
building
exercise
and
running
with Martin
Clarke completed
the
course
in 3 hrs
and 6
minutes.
Terry
Knightley
continued
his
comeback
when
managing
13th
position
in the
Feast
and
Fayre
10k race
held at
Horndon-on-the-Hill
on
Sunday.Terry's
time of
37.59
was a
little
way off
his best
but
nevertheless
very
good
considering
the
conditions
and
tough
nature
of the
course.
