Ilford AC's dynamo duo of Pam Jones and John Batchelor once again proved that age is no barrier to success when they both topped the age graded results in Last Friday's Serpentine 5k in Hyde Park. Pam yet again reduced her own women's over 70s record by slicing 14 seconds from her previous mark to finish in 24mins 35 seconds. This represented a phenomenal 93.2pc on the age graded table. Not to be outdone John Batchelor easily put paid to the challenge of fellow male 65 competitor and international Les Presland with a very good time of 18minutes 52 seconds which again was the top age graded percentage of 89.8 in the men's race. Presland finished well beaten in 19.33.
The club had three other competitors making the lunchtime trip with the husband and wife team of Neil and Dianne Crisp running extremely well clocking 18.32 and 23.51 respectively. Harrier Victoria Morgan continues to improve with every race and was delighted to dip under 23 minutes with a good time of 22.59.
The previous weekend racewalker MICKY SUTTON successfully switched his mode of progression to running and sped around Sunday morning's Amsterdam Marathon in 3 hours 32 minutes and 49 seconds.
Ilford AC now look forward to their next fixture which is the second Essex League Cross Country match to be held at One Tree Hill, Basildon, next Saturday.
